Our Aim

When children lose someone close to them, children may feel angry, guilty, frightened and alone.  It can be very difficult for a parent/carer, close relative or friend to help a bereaved child when they are grieving too.

Develop a professional service to support children following diagnosis of a terminal illness or following the death of a parent, grandparent, sibling or other relative or friend.

‘Simon Says’ aims to:

  1. Support children and their families in Hampshire who have a close relative or friend who has died or is dying
  2. Give families the tools required to move forward but never to forget
  3. Provide written information and resources to bereaved children and their families
  4. Run a telephone helpline
  5. Hosts monthly support groups
  6. Provides befriending/counseling as necessary
  7. Support and give advice/training to teachers, doctors and other professionals working with bereaved children and young people
