What is expected of schools on the Champion Programme?

  • Audit: School will be sent the Growing in Grief Awareness Audit developed by The Childhood Bereavement Network (CBN) and use this to create an action plan.

  • Action Plan: Address the various components of your action plan, such as creating a Bereavement policy and procedures, with assistance from Simon Says as needed.

  • Network group member: Be willing to share ideas, resources, and case studies with the Simon says Network Group which acts as a peer support group as well as keeping up to date with the latest news, resources and research. Online meetings are held once a term.

  • Impact statement: To share with Simon Says, a short impact statement that show the progress made on your Growing in Grief Action Plan.

What does it cost?

While Simon Says offers this programme free of charge to all Hampshire schools, we ask that school commits to holding an annual fundraising event, such as a cake sale, coffee morning, or non-uniform day. The proceeds of which as a donation to Simon Says, with a portion allocated to developing the school’s own Bereavement Toolkit.
