SIMON SAYS – CHILD BEREAVEMENT CHARITY – 25TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT

THE ORANGERY, BROADLANDS, ROMSEY

On Sunday 21st of June , Fathers Day, Simon Says, the Hampshire-based charity supporting children who have been bereaved, marked its 25th Anniversary, in the beautiful Orangery at Broadlands in Romsey.

Present, was The Countess Mountbatten of Burma, The Deputy Lieutenant Dr Beling and the Mayor of Romsey,  along with the Stanley family who founded the charity after the death of their beloved father Simon, leaving mum Sally with 2 small boys to support through their grief. Plus, many founding volunteers and supporters.

Sally’s determination that any bereaved child should be able to work through their emotions without fear of upsetting other grieving members of the family lead to the establishment of Simon Says 25 years ago.

Since then, the charity has developed into offering 8 face-to-face monthly support groups across the county, running a Helpline taking over 800 calls per year, supporting schools ( 70 of whom are now on the Simon Says Champion School Programme) and training other professionals who come into contact with grieving children.

This auspicious occasion was a chance to reflect on the dedication of the many volunteers and staff , who over the years have shaped support to meet this devastating life event and giving children hope for their future.

We would like to thank Broadlands Estates for their wonderful hosting and the Red Herring Catering for their delicious canapes.
