Simon Says Annual Report

Looking Back on 2025

The publication of our Annual Report always provides an opportunity to pause and reflect on the year just gone, the challenges we’ve faced, and, most importantly, the difference we’ve made to bereaved children and young people across Hampshire.

As you read through this year’s report, you’ll discover the stories, achievements and milestones that have shaped 2025. Behind every statistic is a child learning to navigate their grief, a family finding support when they need it most, or a volunteer giving their time to ensure no child feels alone following the death of someone important in their life.

Despite a challenging financial landscape, Simon Says has continued to grow its reach and impact. During the year, we welcomed 235 newly registered children and young people, responded to 769 calls through our helpline, supported 1,098 attendances across our bereavement support groups, and expanded our schools programme to reach 50 schools.

These figures tell an important story, but they only capture part of our impact. What they cannot fully convey are the moments that inspire us every day: a child beginning to smile again after months of sadness, a young person gaining confidence to talk about their feelings, or a family finding hope for the future after experiencing profound loss.

This report also celebrates the extraordinary people who make this work possible – our volunteers, staff, trustees, supporters and funders. Their commitment enables us to maximise every pound raised and ensure that children and families receive the support they need, when they need it.

Why Read Our Annual Report?

For supporters, volunteers, funders and partners, the Annual Report offers transparency and accountability, showing how donations, grants and volunteer time are transformed into meaningful support for bereaved children.

For families and the wider community, it provides insight into the growing need for childhood bereavement support and the positive difference that timely intervention can make.

Most importantly, it is a celebration of what we can achieve together. Thank you for being part of our journey and helping us continue to bring hope, connection and support to bereaved children and young people across our communities.
