Charity rugby match Trojans
The inaugural The R.O.M. Scaffolding Simon Says Charity Rugby Match took place on earlier this month in Eastleigh and what a fantastic day it was, bringing the community together to support bereaved children across Hampshire.

Trojans RFC, April 2026

Held at Trojans RFC, this special fundraising event in Hampshire celebrated the dedication of local rugby coaches and the strength of the community that surrounds them.

For over 12 years, the coaches & managers at Trojans have been giving up their time coaching local lads from age 5 upwards. From ‘Touch Rugby’ to ‘Full Contact’, the dedication and selflessness of this team of super humans is immeasurable. For many of the coaches and managers, the teams have included their sons. Those sons are now part of the U18 Colts Teams and it’s time to really test the boys when the coaches join them on the pitch in this unique ‘friendly’!

The match was in memory of Simon Sewell, who sadly died in early 2025 and was himself a dad of Colts player Matthew.

We were blessed with beautiful weather and a full club of rugby fans at Trojans RFC. It was a powerful reminder of the role community plays in supporting children through some of life’s most difficult moments.
We would like to thank R.O.M. Scaffolding for being the main sponsor, Your Club Stash for supplying the kit and Ruck & Roll for donating a £1 for each burger sold (and they sold out!).

Heartfelt thanks also go to the coaches, managers, match officials, First Aiders and of course to all the players. Many of the Dads had not played for years (one had never played!) and all were playing alongside their sons for the very first time. Many happy memories were made – alongside a few bruises and stiff limbs!

The amount raised was incredible for an inaugural event and amounts to enough to recruit, and train, over 27 volunteers who will go on to support dozens and dozens of bereaved children in Hampshire with Simon Says.
Thank you Trojans family.
